Our Name

Why We're The Bobby Gene Team

When it came time to name this team, I chose Bobby Gene — my grandfather's name. On the surface, it felt simple: he was my hero, and I wanted to carry him into this work with me.

But when I said it out loud, it didn't sit right with the people closest to me. They told me the name didn't seem to connect back to who I was — and that how emotional I got defending it was the opposite of how my grandfather actually raised me to carry myself.

That's when I thought back to our son — the one we lost to miscarriage before we ever got to meet him and would have carried the name Bobby Gene forward. Naming this team after him wasn't separate from honoring my grandfather. It was one name, carrying the memory of two people I have never stopped carrying with me.

Every dream we champion, we champion in their honor.
